Hope’s Bridge

Hope's bridge is a safe place to honor our loss while looking ahead to the call of beauty beyond.

Loss comes to all of us. It creates an empty space of what was and what will never be again. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely believe in resurrection life, but even then, the new life is... New. It is not exactly, what was. That's some of the tough stuff of grief.

Thankfully, we have a bridge available for the in-between place of what was, and what will be. It is the bridge called, Hope in God. We can stand quietly or angrily, or we can sit weeping and maybe even find joy on this bridge. It is a strong place that holds us; we do not hold it.

This bridge is a safe place to honor our loss while looking ahead to the call of beauty beyond. It is a safe place to be... to simply be... in honest un-pretended unforced faith. It is, what it is... and what it is... is beautiful.

The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”
