What Was God Thinking?

Have you ever had one of those wild crazy outrageously questionable happenings that causes you to scream, What was God thinking??? You know, life is going fine, until it isn’t… then it turns around for good, until it isn’t… then it goes back to good. Like a roller coaster. Since I do Not like roller coasters, I prefer to think of a line from the movie, Return to Me, when Minnie Driver frantically yells.

What was God thinking?!?!

Of course she freaked out. She almost died. had a heart transplant. and fell in love. only to find out, that her new heart came from her boyfriend’s dead wife. EiYiYi…

Why on earth does that line stand out as one my personal favorites? Well… it is sort of true. Not exactly, but sort of.

Like it or not, life on earth is not a straight line of only positive events that happen to us. It is often more like a roller coaster that is fine, until it isn’t. In case you are wondering, I am actually in a good place. I have just learned a secret or two from when my heart cried out, What was God thinking?!?!

Without getting preachy, I will share a few lessons as a Life Long Learner from The School of Hard Knocks.

Perfect is over-rated. Enjoy the flaws and use them for good.

Place your honest questions into the hands of God. It is okay to not have everything figured out.

Get yourself a Holy Ghost ATTITUDE. I will not quit. No Way. No How.

Choose mercy! Do not allow someone else’s hate to infect you.

Share your heart wisely with others. Ask, Do you have brain space for five minutes? Make sure to give them a heads up. I do not want you to fix it. I just need you to listen.

Resist the urge to blame God. The evil one wants to create a wedge in that relationship. Do not allow that to happen. If you ever needed God’s nearness, the time is now.

Don’t pretend. God already knows, and He wants to help.

Make a quality decision to spend time with God every.single.day. This one changed my life. If we have time to watch TV or scroll social media, we have time to pray.

There are more lessons to come, but these are the ones that come to mind this morning.

Keep going, friend. It may seem like you are on a roller coaster, but I assure you…

You are not alone. God will never leave you nor forsake you.

At all times and in all ways, you are ever in His mind.

He will never stop working on your behalf.

And last but not least, remember this.

The Lord Loves You… He always has. He always will.

You are in my prayers today,

Mary
