When the Stillness is Full
Here's an entry from my journal. Not all prayer times are like this, but it sure is wonderful when it is. I call it... When the Stillness is Full
Prayer time today could be likened to sitting in a boat before the sun rises. I am alone, but not alone. I look for ripples swaying in the moonlight, but waves are completely still. There is no sight of land, but I am not worried. You won’t find me wringing my hands nor striving to figure out details. I abandoned that for another time. When this stillness is full, the silence speaks and my heart is at rest . There is no need for earthly words. I just relax into the moment and choose to trust. The land is there when my eyes don’t see. Fish swim and breathe beneath the surface. The boat does the work of holding me up and keeping me afloat. I don’t have to paddle or strive. I can relax and enjoy. It’s just me, and the silence, filled with the goodness of God.
